Arizona couple led police on chase that ended in deadly car crash

A couple failed to pay their bill before attempting to leave an Arizona restaurant. Employees ran after them in an attempt to get them to pay for their meal to no avail. What happened after that incident resulted in a car crash that killed three people.

After the couple fled from the restaurant employees at a high rate of speed, an unidentified person made a 911 call, indicating that it appeared that the same couple was engaged in a domestic violence-type altercation while driving. Police located the car but decided to disengage the surface pursuit due to the danger. A helicopter kept track of the vehicle until it slammed head-on into another vehicle that was unfortunate enough to cross paths with the couple.

It turns out that the woman was driving at the time. She initially survived the crash and was taken to an area hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.  The man -- who was in the passenger seat -- perished at the scene. The driver of the vehicle the woman hit also suffered fatal injuries, to which he succumbed on scene.

Many Arizona readers would agree that this was a senseless car crash that should not have happened. The families of the passenger and the innocent driver who became entangled in the couple's difficulties may file wrongful death claims against the estate of the woman who was driving that night. If they prevail in those claims, the court may award them monetary damages to compensate for the financial losses that inevitably accompany tragedies such as this.
