1 killed in DUI-related car accident in Arizona

One young man is dead and another behind bars following a tragic accident in Arizona. Both gentlemen were traveling in the same vehicle when the collision occurred. According to police, it is believed that this car accident was DUI-related.

A 19-year-old male was arrested after a major collision in the Phoenix area near the end of September. It is believed that this individual was driving a car at a high rate of speed just before he crashed into several vehicles at an auto dealership. A passenger in his car, also 19 years of age, was reportedly ejected from the vehicle and died not long after the incident occurred.

The individual thought responsible for this wreck was uninjured. Law enforcement officials have stated that he admitted to drinking before driving. A breath test was administered, and it allegedly showed that this young man's blood alcohol concentration was well over the legal limit.

DUI-related collisions are all too common in Arizona and across the country. Sadly, there are numerous individuals who have paid the ultimate price due to another's decision to drink and drive. When a life is lost in this type of car accident, the victim's family may be entitled to seek compensation for any resulting damages. Legal actions -- such as wrongful death and survival action claims -- may be filed in an Arizona civil court. If this type of case is litigated successfully in an Arizona civil court, the victim's family may be entitled to a monetary judgment concerning their losses.
