Driver charged for fatal DUI-related car crash

An Arizona man is facing criminal charges following a fatal accident that recently occurred in north Phoenix. Police believe that alcohol was a contributing factor in this car crash. In fact, the driver believed responsible supposedly has a history of driving under the influence.

This accident occurred just before noon on Nov. 11, at 41st Avenue and Union Hills Drive. According to reports, a full-size truck -- driven by the accused -- collided with a smaller sports car driven by a 20-year-old male. The force of impact pushed smaller vehicle off of the roadway and into a pole. The victim had to be rescued from his vehicle and was swiftly transported to a medical facility. Sadly, he passed away after arriving at the hospital.

An alcohol breath test was completed at the scene of the accident. According to reports, the accused -- a 36-year-old male -- blew a .147. He was promptly arrested and has been charged with DUI and suspicion of manslaughter.

Losing a loved on in a car crash can devastate a family -- emotionally and economically. Coping with the tragic loss of a loved one is understandably, difficult, and while there is nothing that can replace the life lost, there are steps that can be taken to at least help ease the financial burden. Surviving family members may pursue wrongful death and survival action claims in an Arizona civil court. Fair and full compensation may be awarded if negligence can be established successfully against the party or parties believed responsible for the victim's untimely demise.
