Single-vehicle car crash kills 2, injures 1
Police in Arizona are currently investigating a fatal accident that occurred in Yuma. The single-vehicle car crash is reportedly responsible for the deaths of two women who were passengers in the sedan. The driver was the only survivor of the incident, though, she suffered unspecified injuries.
In the early morning hours of Jan. 10, the driver of a small passenger vehicle struck a utility pole. According to a video that accompanied a local news report, one of the passengers had to be extricated from the vehicle and she died on scene. The other passenger was taken to an area hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. Both of these women, ages 24 and 41, were mothers.
The driver of the vehicle, a 25-year-old female, was also transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Police believe that she was speeding and intoxicated when the crash occurred. At the time of the news report, authorities were still waiting on toxicology results to confirm impairment. This individual has been charged for her role in the crash. Court dates regarding this incident are unknown.
A car crash that results in fatality is simply devastating. Even though this was a single-vehicle wreck, the surviving family members of the victims may pursue legal claims against the driver in an effort to seek compensation for their losses, such as funeral expenses, medical costs, current and future child care -- among others. There is no easy way to move past a tragic event such as this one, as nothing can replace the lives that were lost. However, by filing legal claims in an Arizona civil court, surviving family members may achieve compensation that is likely desperately needed -- if their claims are successful.
