A multi-vehicle wreck in Arizona may have been caused by an impaired driver. The car crash, which is said to have killed one individual and left 15 others injured, occurred in the Chandler area on Dec. 28. Police are still in the process of investigating this incident.
According to reports, the driver of a pickup truck was heading northbound on SR-347 when he or she, for unknown reasons, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with several cars. In total, 12 automobiles were involved in the wreck. Several people were transported to area hospital with injuries that are said to range from serious to critical.
Authorities did not identify the individual believed responsible for this crash. Nor did they provide information about the person who died in the wreck. At this time, investigators do believe impairment may have contributed to the crash, though, toxicology reports are still needed to confirm this suspicion.
Those negatively affected by this tragic car crash may be entitled to seek compensation for their losses through legal means. This can be done by filing the appropriate claims against the individual believed responsible in an Arizona civil court. If that person failed to survive the event, claims may then be filed against his or her estate. Those claims that are successfully litigated may be awarded monetary judgments for any and all losses that are deemed legally recoverable. These may be economic losses -- such as medical expenses, funeral costs and lost wages, -- or they may be non-economic damages -- such as pain and suffering.
