Arizona car crash with four vehicles, accused driver flees

When a car accident happens, the chance of injury is dependent upon many different factors. How fast the vehicles were traveling, the types of vehicles and the state of mind of the driver can all influence the outcome of a car crash. One possibility that many may not consider is that the chance of injury or fatality can be greater if more than just two vehicles are part of the crash. This is just what police are investigating in an Arizona crash involving four vehicles that left three people injured.

Officials say that the accident happened on a recent morning on I-10. A U-Haul truck was attempting to change lanes when it allegedly clipped two other cars. One of the cars lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic, hitting a truck head-on. The driver of that car was seriously injured, and the passenger suffered less-significant injuries. The truck driver also suffered minor injuries, and all three people were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Authorities say that the U-Haul driver fled the scene after the accident occurred, and there is no word on whether that person has been apprehended. Part of the roadway had to be closed to traffic for several hours as authorities tended to the scene. Police are appealing to the public to help them identify the driver who is suspected of causing the accident.

The U-Haul driver could face criminal charges once he or she is identified. In addition, the victims could decide to file a personal injury claim for this car crash against the driver in an Arizona civil court. It is also possible that U-Haul could face civil litigation in this matter as well. A successfully presented civil suit could result in financial restitution that may help the victims cover medical expenses and other costs that might have resulted from the accident.
