Auto accident involving bicyclist sends 1 to the hospital

Police in Arizona are currently investigating the cause of a crash that left a bicyclist seriously injured. This auto accident reportedly occurred Nov. 7, in the Tucson area. It is unknown if any criminal charges are pending in this case.

According to a local news outlet, a cyclist was crossing the road in a crosswalk at the intersection of Grand and Campbell Avenue when he was struck by an SUV. The age and identity of the victim was not reported to the public. This individual was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. The exact nature of his injuries was not released. His current condition is unknown.

The identity of the driver who is believed responsible for this incident is also unknown. Police say that this individual did remain at the scene of the crash and has been cooperating with authorities on this matter. At this time, police have not indicated what may have led to this incident.

Thanks to the nice weather that is usually present in the state, bicyclists can been seen on Arizona roads just about all year long. Unfortunately, despite their constant presence, they are involved in auto vs. pedestrian collisions far too frequently, and usually left with severe injuries -- if not worse. In this particular case, the victim may be able to seek relief for any economic losses he has experienced resulting from this auto accident, such as medical expenses and lost wages -- among others. He may also pursue compensation for any non-economic damages sustained as well - such as for pain and suffering. If negligence can be established against the driver in civil court, all recoverable damages may be fully compensated.
