Whether a car accident is considered minor or major, injuries are possible. Following a rear\-end collision, damage to the spine is particularly common and can have temporary or even permanent consequences. Arizona residents who have suffered such injuries in auto accidents may be entitled to seek relief for any resulting losses.
How do spine injuries happen? This type of injury results from a traumatic blow to the spinal column. Such an impact can cause vertebrae to fracture or break, can cause damage to discs and can cause temporary or permanent nerve damage.
Common symptoms of a spinal cord injury include but are not limited to, pain, loss of sensation, breathing difficulties and paralysis. Depending on the location of the injury and its severity, some of these symptoms may only last a short while; however, some may experience symptoms that are permanent. Various medical treatments are used when dealing with spinal cord injuries. These might include:
- Electrical stimulation
- Physical rehabilitation
A spinal cord injury can be devastating. The physical damages that are associated with such an injury can drastically change one's life. Of course, these injuries also come with financial and emotional losses from which some struggle to recover. If one experiences a spine injury due to a rear-end collision, he or she may have legal recourse. A personal injury claim may be filed in an Arizona civil court against the party deemed responsible and, if negligence can be established successfully, the court may award the victim relief for any economic and non-economic damages sustained.
